Buy a home bitcoin miner

This category features compact bitcoin miners you can run at home: they sit on a desk, connect over Wi-Fi and draw between 1 and 80 W. Bitaxe Gamma 601 and NerdQaxe++ are built on the BM1370 ASIC chip (a chip designed specifically for mining), the same one used in the industrial Antminer S21 Pro. The difference is the number of chips: Bitaxe Gamma 601 has one, NerdQaxe++ has four and the Antminer S21 Pro has 195. NerdMiner V2 runs on an ESP32 microcontroller without an ASIC chip, which makes it a mini miner for learning.

A home miner will not pay for itself through pool mining (a pool is a service that combines the hashrate of many miners). Based on our calculation for 26 September 2026, Bitaxe Gamma 601 earns about UAH 2.1 a day while using about UAH 1.9 worth of electricity. People buy these miners to take part in the Bitcoin network themselves, learn how mining works and have a chance of finding a whole block through solo mining.

What solo mining is and the odds of finding a block

In solo mining, your device searches for a block on its own rather than together with other pool participants. If your miner finds a block, the reward goes to you: currently 3.125 BTC plus the transaction fees in that block, minus the solo pool’s fee, if any. Every hash is a separate attempt and progress does not accumulate, so a miner can find a block on its first day or never find one during its entire working life.

The odds depend on hashrate, the number of attempts per second: TH/s means trillions of attempts and kH/s means thousands. Average time to a block at a network difficulty of 132.76 T (late September 2026):

  • Bitaxe Gamma 601 (≈1.2 TH/s): about 15,000 years, or roughly a 1 in 15,000 chance per year of continuous operation;
  • NerdQaxe++ (≈4.8 TH/s): about 3,800 years, a 1 in 3,800 chance per year;
  • NerdMiner V2 (up to 250 kH/s): tens of billions of years or more.

Small miners really do find blocks: on 9 July 2026, a Bitaxe Gamma running at about 1 TH/s found block 957,382 through the Public Pool solo pool and received 3.138 BTC. A win like this is possible, but it is a lottery and should not be planned as income.

How much a miner earns in a pool

A pool splits the reward among participants according to their contribution, so instead of a chance at a whole block you receive small, regular payouts. We calculated them for 26 September 2026 (network difficulty 132.76 T, bitcoin ≈UAH 3.76 million, electricity at UAH 4.32 per kWh, excluding pool and transaction fees):

  • Bitaxe Gamma 601 earns ≈57 sats a day (0.00000057 BTC, ≈UAH 2.1) and uses ≈UAH 1.9 worth of electricity;
  • NerdQaxe++ earns ≈227 sats a day (≈UAH 8.6) and uses UAH 7.3–8.3 worth of electricity.

Almost all of the income goes on electricity, so a miner only pays for itself if it finds a whole block in solo mode, and that is a rare win. Network difficulty changes every 2,016 blocks (roughly every two weeks), and the bitcoin price and electricity rates change too, so these figures are valid as of the calculation date.

How to choose a home miner

  • NerdMiner V2: up to 250 kH/s on current firmware, 1–2 W, USB power. The most affordable miner in the catalogue. A good way to get to know mining: the screen shows hashrate and network statistics.
  • Bitaxe Gamma 601: ≈1.2 TH/s, ≈18 W, 5 V power supply included. A real ASIC miner for solo mining on your desk. It uses about 13 kWh a month (≈UAH 56). Cooling is active, so the fan is slightly audible.
  • NerdQaxe++: ≈4.8 TH/s, 70–80 W, 12 V power supply included. Four times as many attempts as Bitaxe, but it noticeably warms the air and the fan is audible in a quiet room. It uses 50–58 kWh a month (UAH 218–249).

The industrial Antminer S21 Pro delivers 234 TH/s, but it draws 3,510 W and produces 75 dB of noise, about as loud as a vacuum cleaner, so it is not suitable for an apartment. This category does not include industrial ASICs.

Before you start, make sure you have 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi (all three miners are controlled by an ESP32 microcontroller, which only works on this band) and a well-ventilated spot. Bitaxe Gamma 601 runs on 5 V only: a power supply with a different voltage but the same connector will damage the board. For payouts, you will need an address from your own Bitcoin wallet, such as a hardware wallet: an exchange deposit address belongs to the exchange, not to you. Our comparison of NerdMiner V2, Bitaxe and NerdQaxe++ goes through the calculations in detail.
