Protection against hacking and phishing

Security Key C NFC by Yubico is used as a physical access key for your accounts. Even if someone finds out your password, they still cannot sign in without the key itself. It is a simple way to strengthen protection for Google, Microsoft, crypto exchanges, password managers and other services that support FIDO2/WebAuthn or U2F.

USB-C and NFC for modern devices

This model connects via USB-C and also supports NFC. It is convenient to use with modern laptops, tablets, smartphones and other devices where USB-C has become the main standard. For mobile sign-in, simply tap the key via NFC. The same key can be used on both a computer and a mobile device.

Security Key C NFC by Yubico NFC Usage

A simple solution for two-factor protection

Security Key C NFC is made for users who need a clear and reliable way to protect important accounts. After setup, the key is used only at sign-in: the service asks for confirmation, and access is approved with the physical key itself. It is a straightforward option for users who want stronger account security without complicated setups or constant one-time code entry.

Support for modern FIDO standards

The model supports FIDO2/WebAuthn and FIDO U2F — modern standards for hardware authentication. They are used for passkey sign-in, two-factor protection and phishing-resistant authentication on websites and services that support keys.

For signing in to work accounts

Security Key C NFC can be used to protect Google, GitHub, work email, and other services where relying on a password alone is not enough. Even if an attacker gets the password, they will still need the physical key to sign in.

iOS and Android support

Security Key C NFC works with iOS and Android smartphones and tablets via NFC, and can also connect directly to USB-C devices through the port. The key can be used to sign in to compatible services, confirm passkeys, and enable hardware-based two-factor protection on mobile devices. To use NFC, the smartphone must also support NFC.

FAQ

Security Key C NFC by Yubico is a physical security key for protecting online services and applications. A username and password alone are no longer enough for reliable account protection. A hardware key adds physical confirmation to sign-in and helps reduce the risk of phishing, code interception and unauthorized access.

The Security Key series is well suited for crypto exchanges because it supports modern FIDO2 / WebAuthn and FIDO U2F protocols. These technologies are used by many popular exchanges to protect sign-in, security setting changes and other critical actions. A hardware key removes the risk of phishing and remote interception of confirmation codes.

Support depends on how each exchange implements security, but in most cases YubiKey can be used with major platforms such as Binance, Coinbase, Kraken, OKX and other services where hardware 2FA is available. Activation is done in the account security settings and usually takes a few minutes.

Compared with SMS and authenticator apps, YubiKey provides a higher level of protection. It does not depend on a mobile network, SIM card or smartphone, is resistant to fake-site attacks and works only on trusted domains. This is especially important for users who regularly work with exchanges and keep significant funds in their accounts.

One YubiKey can be used with many services at the same time. The key is not limited to one account or one platform — it is registered with each service separately and can be used for dozens or hundreds of different sign-ins, including crypto exchanges, email services, VPNs and corporate systems.

YubiKey cannot be copied or cloned. Cryptographic keys are stored inside a secure chip and cannot be extracted through software or physical access. Even with full access to the device, it is not possible to create a copy of it.

The same key can be used on different devices and operating systems. The only requirement is that the service you use supports hardware security keys. YubiKey itself is not tied to a specific device.

We recommend adding a backup YubiKey to important accounts in advance in case the main key is lost or stolen. A backup key is not a copy of the main one — it must be registered separately in each service. It is best to store it in a safe place, for example in a home safe.

Security Key NFC and Security Key C NFC perform the same task: they protect accounts with hardware two-factor authentication and passkeys. Both keys support FIDO2/WebAuthn and FIDO U2F, work with compatible services and let you confirm sign-in with a physical touch of the key.

The main difference is the connector. Security Key NFC connects via USB-A and NFC, while Security Key C NFC connects via USB-C and NFC. If your laptop or PC has a standard USB-A port, Security Key NFC is the right choice. If you use modern devices with USB-C, Security Key C NFC is the better option.

Security Key NFC and Security Key C NFC work with modern browsers and services that support FIDO2/WebAuthn or FIDO U2F. This usually includes Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Mozilla Firefox, Safari and other browsers on current versions of Windows, macOS, Linux, ChromeOS, Android and iOS.

Compatibility depends not only on the browser, but also on the specific website or application. If the service supports security key sign-in, passkeys or hardware two-factor authentication, the key can be used to protect the account. NFC use requires a smartphone or another device with NFC support.
