Passport Prime combines a Bitcoin wallet, 2FA codes, security keys, encrypted files, and tools for managing other important digital data in a single secure device. Instead of keeping critical data on your smartphone or computer, you move the approval of important actions to a dedicated device that remains under your control.
KeyOS with app isolation
Passport Prime runs on KeyOS, an open-source operating system built around a microkernel architecture, process isolation, and sandboxed apps. Each app receives its own protected child key and cannot access data belonging to other apps without explicit user permission. This approach reduces the risk of an issue in one function affecting the entire device.
A full-featured Bitcoin wallet
The built-in Bitcoin App lets you create and restore Bitcoin wallets, receive and send BTC, verify addresses, sign messages, and manage multiple accounts. Passport Prime supports single-sig and multisig setups, Taproot, SeedQR, passphrases, and QR-based address verification. For convenient everyday use, you can manage your wallet with Envoy, while multisig setups can be coordinated through compatible wallets such as Sparrow, Nunchuk, Specter, Electrum, and BlueWallet.
QuantumLink for secure connectivity
QuantumLink provides an encrypted Bluetooth connection between Passport Prime and Envoy. Wireless communication is handled by a separate chip, while data is transmitted through a secure tunnel protected by post-quantum encryption. The device has no Wi-Fi or IP stack, so it cannot connect to the internet on its own.
Keycards for reliable recovery
Passport Prime comes with three NFC Keycards for backing up the Master Key. In the standard Magic Backup setup, the key is split into three parts using a Shamir 2-of-3 scheme: two parts are stored on physical Keycards, while the third is stored through Envoy in encrypted form. Recovery requires either one Keycard together with Envoy or two physical Keycards.
Large touchscreen and premium build
Passport Prime features a 3.5-inch IPS touchscreen protected by Gorilla Glass. The large display makes it easy to verify addresses, transaction details, QR codes, and security settings directly on the device. The body is made from anodized aluminum, while LED indicators, haptic feedback, and a physical Home button make everyday use more intuitive. The built-in 1100 mAh battery charges via USB-C.
Protection against physical tampering
Passport Prime monitors the integrity of its enclosure, display, and internal board. If the device detects an attempt to open it or gain physical access to protected components, its anti-tamper protection is triggered and confidential data is automatically erased. Access to the device is also protected by a 6–12 digit PIN or an alphanumeric password.
Stateless Mode for maximum isolation
For advanced users, Passport Prime supports Stateless Mode. In this mode, no confidential information remains on the device after a session that could later be recovered through physical access. Before the next use, the wallet is restored from a backup. This setup is designed for users who want an additional layer of isolation for especially sensitive data.
Security built into the architecture
At the core of Passport Prime are a Microchip SAMA5D27 processor and a dedicated ATECC608C Secure Element. The Master Key is protected by multiple hardware mechanisms: its data is split between the processor and Secure Element and is not stored on the device in plain form. Internal storage is additionally protected with hardware AES encryption, while the KeyOS architecture isolates apps and restricts their access to critical data.
50 GB for encrypted files
Files App provides 50 GB of storage for documents, photos, videos, PDFs, and other important data. Files in internal storage are encrypted at the hardware level and can only be accessed after entering a PIN or password. A separate Airlock area acts as a controlled buffer for transferring files over USB-C without giving the connected computer access to the entire internal storage.
2FA and hardware security keys
Passport Prime lets you move 6-digit TOTP codes from your phone to a dedicated secure device. It also supports hardware security keys for compatible services, so important sign-ins and approvals do not rely solely on your smartphone or computer. 2FA data and security key registrations are stored separately, encrypted with the Master Key, and can be included in a settings backup.
Vault for seed phrases, passwords, and Nostr keys
Vault turns Passport Prime into a secure offline storage solution for your most important digital data. The device can generate 12- or 24-word BIP85 child seed phrases, create strong passwords, store imported seed phrases, and manage Nostr keys. Your data remains on the device under the protection of KeyOS, the Secure Element, and your PIN or password. Combined with its open-source architecture, Bitcoin App, Keycards, 2FA, and encrypted file storage, Passport Prime becomes a single hub for managing your keys, data, and digital approvals.
Passport Prime is not positioned as a typical multi-currency hardware wallet. The built-in Bitcoin App is designed for storing Bitcoin and signing transactions, including both single-sig and multisig setups.

Passport Prime is a secure personal device for Bitcoin, 2FA codes, hardware security keys, encrypted files, backups, and important digital data. Foundation describes this category as Human Authority Hardware: important signatures, permissions, and approvals are handled on a dedicated device controlled by the user.
Passport Core is a focused Bitcoin-only wallet designed for fully air-gapped operation using QR codes and microSD.
Passport Prime has a broader purpose. In addition to a Bitcoin wallet, it supports KeyOS apps, QuantumLink, NFC Keycards, 2FA, security keys, Vault, and 50 GB of encrypted file storage. Prime is better suited to users who want one device for protecting several types of digital keys and data.
The built-in Bitcoin App supports Bitcoin BTC and Bitcoin Testnet. Passport Prime should not be viewed as a conventional multi-currency wallet with built-in support for a large number of altcoins.
Vault can store or generate seed phrases for compatible external wallets, but this is a separate feature and does not add the corresponding cryptocurrency to the built-in Bitcoin App.
Not in every scenario. Passport Prime has no Wi-Fi and cannot connect to the internet on its own, but it does support QuantumLink Bluetooth, USB-C, NFC, and a camera. QuantumLink is used during initial setup, when working with Envoy, and for firmware updates.
For signing Bitcoin transactions, you can use a QR-based workflow without a direct cable connection. The level of isolation therefore depends on how you choose to use the device.
KeyOS is Passport Prime’s open-source operating system, designed with a strong focus on app isolation and protection of critical keys. It uses a microkernel architecture, sandboxed environments, process separation, and dedicated child keys for individual apps. This helps ensure that each function can access only the data it actually needs.
QuantumLink is a secure Bluetooth connection system between Passport Prime and Envoy. It uses post-quantum encryption, while wireless communication is handled by a separate Bluetooth chip. Your phone transfers data, but important decisions and cryptographic operations are confirmed on Passport Prime itself.
With the standard Magic Backup setup, the Master Key is split using a Shamir 2-of-3 scheme. Two parts are stored on two NFC Keycards, while the third is stored through Envoy in encrypted form and backed up to your Apple or Google account.
Recovery requires any two parts: one Keycard together with Envoy, or two Keycards. The third Keycard included in the box can be kept as a spare. You can also choose a manual offline backup setup using Keycards, a BIP39 seed phrase, or other compatible backup methods.
No. Foundation does not store the complete Master Key and cannot restore it on its own. App and settings data is encrypted on Passport Prime using the Master Key before it is ever sent to the server. Without your key, Foundation cannot read the contents of that backup.
No. Files stored in the Internal or Airlock sections are not included in Magic Backup and remain only on the physical device. If Passport Prime is lost, damaged, or wiped, these files will not be restored together with the Master Key.
Important documents should therefore be kept in at least one additional secure backup.
Yes. Passport Prime can be used as a signer in a multisig wallet: it can import the wallet configuration, verify receiving addresses, and sign transactions. To create and coordinate a multisig setup, you need a compatible external wallet such as Sparrow, Nunchuk, Specter, Electrum, or BlueWallet. Envoy is currently a single-sig wallet and does not create multisig setups.
Vault lets you create and store BIP85 child seed phrases, strong passwords, and Nostr keys, as well as import existing seed phrases and passwords. Generated items are deterministically derived from the Master Key, allowing them to be recreated from a valid Passport Prime backup.
Passport Prime is protected by a 6–12 digit PIN or a more complex alphanumeric password. After 10 consecutive incorrect attempts, the device automatically deletes the Master Key. Passport Prime must then be set up again and restored from a backup.
Yes. Foundation publishes the source code for both the hardware and software components of Passport Prime. KeyOS and its apps are designed around openness, verifiability, and reproducible builds. This allows independent researchers to examine the device’s architecture and security implementation.

We usually dispatch orders on the same day they are placed.
