Ledger Recovery Key is a PIN-protected card that stores an encrypted copy of your 24-word Secret Recovery Phrase. The card has no screen or buttons of its own — all actions are performed through the touchscreen of a compatible Ledger, while data exchange uses a secure NFC protocol with mutual authentication. To create a backup, simply tap the card to the back of the device, set a PIN code (4 to 8 digits) and confirm the operation. To restore access, tap the card to a new Ledger and enter the PIN.
