Keeping your seed phrase safe and sound offline is super important when you’re dealing with stuff like bitcoin, Ethereum, and other cryptocurrencies. This way, you can chill without worrying about hackers, hardware issues, or tricky social tricks messing with your coins. It’s all about safeguarding your privacy and providing long-term resilience.

A seed phrase, also known as a recovery phrase or mnemonic phrase, is a set of 12 or 24 words generated by the wallet after the device is first set up. They are needed to backup and restore your wallet in case it fails or is lost.

A private key is a unique identifier that is used to access your assets. It is a long sequence of characters and is usually stored in encrypted form. The private key is used to sign transactions that allow you to send and receive cryptocurrency.

Keep your Trezor Keep Metal wallet backup in a safe place known only to you or someone you completely trust. This could be a safe, a hiding place in your house, or even a hole that your dog Patron dug in the backyard. The main thing is that this place is inaccessible to outsiders.

The best place to safely store your coins is offline. Hardware wallets allow you to store funds offline, making them inaccessible to hackers and other attackers. Once your coins are in your hardware wallet, no one else will have access to them. It’s very simple: “Your keys – your crypto”. It is best to store your wallet backup on Trezor Keep Metal.

Your cryptocurrency wallet uses the standard BIP39 mnemonic phrase format. The BIP39 word list contains reserve words of three to eight letters. The first four letters of each word are unique and sufficient to reconstruct the entire word. Simply put, you only need the first four letters of each word. Most wallets only ask for the first four letters and the rest of the letters are filled in automatically.

Unfortunately this is not possible. Trezor Keep Metal is not a standalone device. It is designed to complement your hardware wallet. This tablet will allow you to securely store your mnemonic phrase and protect it from external physical influences.

If your Trezor Keep Metal has been lost or stolen, IMMEDIATELY move all of your currency to a new address that uses a completely different mnemonic phrase or private key. We also recommend using a passphrase (sometimes called the “25th word”) so that even if someone discovers your pod, you still have some protection.

One of the main disadvantages of paper is its low durability. Ink may burn out, paper may burn or dissolve in water if flooded. Thanks to Trezor Keep Metal’s high-quality materials, you can be sure that your mnemonic phrase will be safe even in the most extreme conditions such as fire, flood or chemical exposure.

Trezor Keep Metal allows you to store your BIP39 seed phrase. Most wallets use the BIP39 protocol. Here are some examples: Trezor, Ledger, Coldcard, Trust Wallet, Exodus, Electrum, MetaMask and many others.

BIP39 is an open source industry standard used by cryptocurrency wallets. It is an alphabetical list of 2048 words. The first word “Abandon” has the value “0001” and the last word “Zoo” has the value “2048”. You can check out the list here.
