Security Key only supports FIDO2 and U2F protocol. Yubikey Series 5 keys support Smart Card (PIV), Yubico OTP, OpenPGP, OATH-TOTP, OATH-HOTP and Challenge-Response, Static Passwords and more.
All browsers, including Safari, are compatible with TOTP (one-time password) technology.
Also, most modern browsers already support FIDO U2F (Universal 2nd Factor) technology. But we still recommend to check the support before purchasing a device. Chromium browsers such as Google Chrome, Edge, Opera will definitely work out of the box, while in Mozilla Firefox you need to manually enable U2F support.
