Choose recovery phrase restoration and specify its length: 12, 18 or 24 words. Enter the first letters and select each word <strong>only on Flex<\/strong> until the device confirms the phrase. Then add accounts for the relevant networks in Ledger Wallet. Three incorrect attempts to enter the card PIN erase its backup. Keep a paper or metal copy of the 24 words as well, and a separate, exact record of your passphrase.[\/vc_message]<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To restore from a card with a saved backup, choose backup restoration and Ledger Recovery Key on a new or reset compatible Flex. Recovery requires your 24 words and that exact passphrase. Tap \u2713 and enter the code again to confirm it.<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<li><strong>Enter your passphrase using the Flex keyboard.<\/strong> Do not use the short demonstration values shown in the illustrations for a wallet that will hold funds. Keep an exact offline record.<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<li><strong>On the \u201cIs this correct?\u201d screen, check the entry.<\/strong> If it is correct, tap <strong>Yes, it\u2019s correct<\/strong>. To change it, select Edit passphrase.<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<li><strong>When Flex displays Enter your main PIN to confirm your passphrase, enter your main PIN.<\/strong> This is the code you used to unlock Flex before setting up the passphrase.<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<li><strong>To open the wallet again, turn Flex off and back on.<\/strong> The second PIN opens the wallet with the attached passphrase; the main PIN opens your standard wallet. Test access again before depositing funds.<\/li>\r\n<\/ol>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Before funding the wallet, check that you can reopen it and enter the exact passphrase from your written record, as described below. This helps confirm that you have the information needed to restore access.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Flex can store one passphrase attached to a secondary PIN. Attaching a new one replaces the previous configuration on the device. Funds remain at the previous addresses, and you need the previous passphrase to access them.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h3 class=\"nm-block-heading wp-block-heading\">Temporary passphrase: access for one session<\/h3>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This mode lasts for one session; we did not enable it during our setup. According to <a href=\"https:\/\/support.ledger.com\/article\/115005214529-zd\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Ledger\u2019s instructions<\/a>, the steps are:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<ol class=\"nm-block-list wp-block-list\">\r\n<li><strong>Unlock Flex with your main PIN.<\/strong> Open <strong>Settings \u2192 Advanced \u2192 Set passphrase \u2192 Set temporary passphrase<\/strong>.<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<li><strong>Enter the exact passphrase on Flex<\/strong> and check every character. Confirm the entry with <strong>Yes, it\u2019s good<\/strong>.<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<li><strong>Enter your main PIN to confirm.<\/strong> Flex will use the accounts associated with this passphrase for the current session.<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<li><strong>To return to your standard wallet, restart Flex and enter your main PIN.<\/strong> The temporary passphrase is cleared from the active session when you power off or next enter a PIN. To access its accounts again, reactivate it with the exact same entry.<\/li>\r\n<\/ol>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h3 class=\"nm-block-heading wp-block-heading\">Verify access to the passphrase account before funding it<\/h3>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<ol class=\"nm-block-list wp-block-list\">\r\n<li><strong>Activate the passphrase<\/strong> with the second PIN or by entering it temporarily. In Ledger Wallet, open Home, scroll down and click <strong>Add crypto account<\/strong> or <strong>Add<\/strong>, depending on your interface version. Select Bitcoin and open Bitcoin on Flex when prompted.<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<li><strong>Add a separate Native SegWit Bitcoin account<\/strong> on the account selection screen by clicking <strong>Confirm<\/strong>. Give it a clear name that does not reveal the passphrase, such as Bitcoin \u2014 passphrase.<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<li><strong>Open Receive for the new account and verify the address on Flex.<\/strong> Before funding it, record this public address for comparison. Do not use the standard Bitcoin account\u2019s address from step 12 for this check.<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<li><strong>Restart Flex and activate the same wallet again.<\/strong> Open Receive again for the same account and address type. If the previous address has not yet received funds, it should match.<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<li><strong>If you attached the passphrase to a PIN, also test your written record.<\/strong> After restarting, unlock with your main PIN and temporarily enter the passphrase from your offline record. Verify the address for this account on Flex again. If it matches the earlier address, your written passphrase recreates the correct wallet.<\/li>\r\n<\/ol>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ledger Wallet can display accounts from both your standard wallet and your passphrase wallet at the same time. <strong>You can sign a transaction only when the wallet that controls that account is active on Flex.<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h2 class=\"nm-block-heading wp-block-heading\">Step 14. Receive and send a small test amount<\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The following instructions explain your first transfer after setup. <strong>We did not transfer funds during our test setup.<\/strong> Start with a small amount, allowing for fees and the minimum withdrawal amount on the sending exchange or wallet. The example below uses the Bitcoin account we added.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h3 class=\"nm-block-heading wp-block-heading\">Receiving BTC from an exchange or another wallet<\/h3>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<ol class=\"nm-block-list wp-block-list\">\r\n<li><strong>Verify your own address through Receive<\/strong> as described in step 12. If you are funding a passphrase wallet, activate it on Flex first and select its account.<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<li><strong>On the sending exchange or wallet, choose a BTC withdrawal over the Bitcoin network.<\/strong> Do not choose a different network just because its fee is lower.<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<li><strong>Paste your verified address and check it again.<\/strong> Enter a small test amount and confirm the withdrawal on the sending exchange or wallet.<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<li><strong>Wait for network confirmation.<\/strong> Check the transaction and balance in your Ledger Wallet Bitcoin account. If needed, open the transaction details in a blockchain explorer.<\/li>\r\n<\/ol>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Flex does not sign an incoming transaction when you receive a normal transfer. Do not automatically reuse the address from which the exchange previously sent you funds.<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<li><strong>In Ledger Wallet, open Send and select your Bitcoin account.<\/strong> Paste the address, enter a small amount and check the fee. Bitcoin fees are paid in BTC, so your balance must cover both the transfer and the fee.<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<li><strong>Continue to review the transaction in the app.<\/strong> Connect and unlock Flex, then open Bitcoin when Ledger Wallet asks. For a passphrase account, activate the corresponding wallet.<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<li><strong>Read all the details on Flex.<\/strong> Verify the full recipient address, amount and fee. If the details do not match the transfer you intended, reject it.<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<li><strong>On the final screen, press and hold Hold to sign.<\/strong> Holding the button confirms the signature. <strong>Transaction signed<\/strong> on Flex means the device has signed the transaction; it does not yet confirm that the transaction has been broadcast.<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<li><strong>Wait for Ledger Wallet to send the transaction and for the blockchain to confirm it.<\/strong> Check that the recipient has received the funds. If the transaction is still pending, check its status before sending again.<\/li>\r\n<\/ol>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">[vc_message color=&#8221;info&#8221; message_box_style=&#8221;classic&#8221; message_box_color=&#8221;alert-info&#8221; style=&#8221;rounded&#8221;]<strong>Sending tokens requires the coin used to pay that network\u2019s fees.<\/strong> For example, sending USDT on Ethereum requires ETH in the same account. On Tron, costs depend on the resources available; if there are not enough, TRX is needed. These networks are separate from our Bitcoin example.[\/vc_message]<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You do not need to enable blind signing for a standard transfer in Ledger Wallet. If you have already set a PIN, unlock Flex. Close any other wallet apps or browser tabs that might be using the device. See our <a href=\"https:\/\/lwallet.com.ua\/en\/ledger-wallet-cant-detect-your-ledger\/\">Ledger Wallet connection troubleshooting guide<\/a> for further checks. Do not start troubleshooting by resetting the wallet.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h3 class=\"nm-block-heading wp-block-heading\">A zero balance or a signing error<\/h3>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A zero balance is normal for a new account. If you expected funds to be there, check the network, selected account and active passphrase. Flex unlocked with the main PIN cannot sign for an account belonging to a different wallet. After restoring a wallet, you also need to add the relevant accounts again in Ledger Wallet.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h3 class=\"nm-block-heading wp-block-heading\">Funds have not appeared after a withdrawal<\/h3>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Find the transaction hash on the sending platform and check its status on the correct network. If the exchange has not broadcast the transaction yet, Ledger Wallet cannot speed it up. If the transfer is already confirmed, check the address, network and account, then refresh the app\u2019s data. Do not repeat the withdrawal until you know what happened to the first transfer.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h3 class=\"nm-block-heading wp-block-heading\">You entered the recovery phrase on a website or shared it with someone<\/h3>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">[vc_message color=&#8221;warning&#8221; message_box_style=&#8221;classic&#8221; message_box_color=&#8221;alert-warning&#8221; style=&#8221;rounded&#8221;]<strong>Treat that phrase as compromised.<\/strong> Changing the PIN or reinstalling Ledger Wallet will not remove the other person\u2019s access to your funds. Move your assets to a new wallet with a different phrase generated on a trusted hardware device.
