Check your USDT address in a block explorer

Copy the exact address you are trying to send USDT from and open it in the appropriate block explorer: Etherscan for Ethereum, TronScan for TRON, BscScan for BNB Smart Chain, or Solscan for Solana.

Check whether the address actually holds USDT, which network the token is on, and whether the same address has the asset or network resources needed to pay the transaction fee. If the explorer shows the correct balance but your wallet does not, the issue is more likely related to the app, RPC connection, or token settings.

2. The required amount depends on the network and the transaction itself, so use the fee estimate shown by your wallet immediately before signing.

There are exceptions. For example, some transfers on Plasma can use fee sponsorship, while Stable uses USDT0 for gas. If your USDT is on one of these networks, check its fee model first — you may not need to hold a separate native token.

[vc_message color=”warning” message_box_style=”classic” message_box_color=”alert-warning” style=”rounded”]

The token or network resource used to pay the fee must be available on the same address you are sending USDT from and on the correct network. TRX withdrawn as a BEP-20 token on BNB Smart Chain cannot pay fees on TRON, and ETH held in another Ethereum account cannot pay for a transfer from your current address.

[/vc_message]

3. Check whether an earlier transaction is still pending

If there is already a transaction marked Pending in your history, check it before trying again. On Ethereum and other EVM networks, transactions from the same address are processed in nonce order, so an older transaction can hold up everything that follows it.

Speed Up replaces the pending transaction with another version using the same nonce and a higher fee.

Cancel sends a different transaction with the same nonce in an attempt to replace the pending one.

If you use the built-in Speed Up or Cancel feature in MetaMask or Rabby, the wallet normally calculates the required fee increase for you. Clearing local activity or using Reset account does not cancel a transaction that has already been broadcast to the network.

TRON and Solana do not use the same EVM-style nonce queue. Transactions on these networks have a limited validity period. If a transaction can no longer be processed, first check its txID or signature in a block explorer and only then create a new transaction, so you do not accidentally send the payment twice.

4. Check your wallet and network

If the correct address has enough funds or resources to cover the network fee but USDT still will not send, check the wallet software and the way the transaction is being signed.

Update your wallet app or firmware using the official source. If a token appeared unexpectedly or every attempt to send it fails, compare its contract address or token identifier with Tether’s official information for that network.

Another, much less common possibility is the Tether blacklist. On Ethereum, open the official USD₮ contract in Etherscan, go to Contract → Read Contract, and find
getBlackListStatus
or
isBlackListed
. On TronScan, you can perform a similar check through the official TRC-20 USDT contract.

If the function returns
true
, outgoing USDT transfers from that address are blocked at the contract level. There is no user-side workaround for this restriction — you need to contact Tether through its official support channels.

[vc_message color=”warning” message_box_style=”classic” message_box_color=”alert-warning” style=”rounded”]

You do not need to enter your seed phrase on a website, share it with support, or import a hardware wallet key into an unknown app to troubleshoot a USDT transfer. Do not sign an unfamiliar transaction just because someone describes it as “wallet synchronization” or “unlocking USDT”.

[/vc_message]

FAQ

USDT is in my wallet, but it says Insufficient funds. What am I missing?

You are most likely missing the native token or network resource required to pay the transaction fee. Check the TRX, ETH, BNB, POL, SOL, or TON balance on the exact address you are sending USDT from.

Can I pay the network fee in USDT?

Usually not. However, there are network-level and service-level exceptions. Some Plasma transfers can use fee sponsorship, Stable uses USDT0 for gas, and some wallets offer their own gasless transaction mechanisms.

My USDT transaction has been Pending for hours. Should I send it again?

Check the original transaction in a block explorer first. On EVM networks, use the wallet’s built-in Speed Up or Cancel option if available. Do not create a separate duplicate payment until you know what happened to the first transaction.

USDT appears in the block explorer, but my wallet still will not send it. What should I check?

If you can’t send USDT even though the token is visible in the block explorer, make sure the same address has enough funds or resources for the network fee. Also check for earlier Pending transactions, update your wallet app and firmware, and confirm that the network is supported. If everything looks correct, verify the token contract and the address’s Tether blacklist status.

How to avoid this problem next time

Keep enough of the native token or required network resources on active addresses to cover fees, using the wallet’s current fee estimate rather than an old fixed amount.

Before making a large transfer to a new address, send a small test transaction first.
